Chuck Blanton Partner Chuck is a 1991 graduate of Tarleton State University. He began working for BMY in 1991. In January 1996, he left the firm to become a senior auditor with KPMG. While at KPMG, Chuck worked on various non-profit, governmental and for profit audits. In July 2000, he left KPMG to serve as senior accountant with Newbridge Capital, LLC, an affiliate of the Texas Pacific Group. In December 2005, Chuck rejoined BMY to manage the firm's Granbury, TX office. His accounting focus in Granbury will primarily be on financial and compliance audits of small businesses, non-profit organizations and local government agencies. He is also involved in the preparation of individual, corporate and partnership tax returns. Chuck lives in Weatherford, TX with his wife and two children. He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Brock and has served in various other civic organizations. cblanton@bmy-cpa.com
Shelley Akerley Certified Public Accountant Joined the firm in January 2007 when BMY acquired Akerley & Fenley, PC with over 25 years experience in tax and accounting services.  Shelley graduated with Highest Honors from Tarleton State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting.  Shelley is a Granbury native, where she and her husband Barry live with their two children, Brilyn and Austin. Lindy Stone Certified Public Accountant Lindy joined the BMY team in January 2007. She has a Master of Science in Accounting from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Tarleton State University. Her accounting focus is primarily individual, partnership, and corporate tax. Lindy is an avid fan of Fightin' Texas Aggie Football. Lstone@bmy-cpa.com
Karen Varnell Certified Public Accountant Karen received her BBA in Accounting from Angelo State University.  After graduation, she worked for KPMG as an auditor.  Karen left KPMG to serve as senior internal auditor with Texas Health Resources.  While at Texas Health Resources, Karen progressed from senior internal auditor to Business Office Director to Chief Financial Officer/Compliance Officer.  She also served twice as an interim hospital administrator.  While at Texas Health Resources, she obtained her MBA from Tarleton State University.  Karen left Texas Health Resources for academia as an Assistant Professor at Tarleton State University where she continues to teach Ethics, Auditing, Cost Accounting, and Financial Accounting.  In October 2008, Karen joined BMY in the firm's Granbury, TX office. Her accounting focus in Granbury will primarily be on financial and compliance audits of small businesses.  She will also be involved in the preparation of individual, corporate and partnership tax returns. Melinda Brown Accountant   Melinda joined BMY in June of 2008 with over 30 years of professional experience. She served as County Treasurer for Baylor County for four years and served on the Texas Association of County Treasurers Board of Directors and Education Committee. Prior to joining BMY, Melinda was a Senior Auditor for a Fort Worth firm, auditing school districts, counties and other governmental entities.  As a member of the BMY team, Melinda hopes to use her experience to consult governmental entities with all their accounting issues, including helping them to be better prepared for their annual audits. Susan Higginbotham Accountant Has been with BMY since December, 2006.  Susan received a Business degree from the University of South Carolina and spent 20 years in banking.  Her accounting focus is individual and corporate tax preparation.  Susan enjoys reading, watching movies, and playing golf. Adam Young Accountant Has been with BMY since February, 2008.  Earned Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Houston and is currently studying for the CPA and Series 7 exams.  His accounting focus is in individual tax, corporate tax, and business development.
